Each participant will be assigned a bib number, which will be assigned at random in all cases, except for the first few numbers, which will be assigned by the Organizing Committee.
Art.8 MATERIAL TÉCNICO OBLIGATORIO
The organization recommends to the runners of the JJP SHERRY MARATHON to carry the following material to be able to run the race:
- Cell phone with charged battery.

Art.9 CHECKPOINTS, REFRESHMENT AND ASSISTANCE POINTS
The race route will be marked with barrier tape and signage designed specifically for the event. The route map for the race will be published on the race’s official website. Any changes or amendments to it will be published through the same channels.
Each participant must follow the entire marked route, without skipping the signs and passing through all the checkpoints.
It is strictly forbidden to receive external assistance or refreshments during the race outside the points provided by the Organization: these will coincide with the official refreshment points of the race. Likewise, it is forbidden to be accompanied by other people who are not registered participants in the race.
At each refreshment point there will be a specific closing time, being an indispensable requirement to pass before the established closing time in order to continue in the race.
Each refreshment station will provide food and drink, the selection of which will vary depending on the kilometre at which it is located. Food and drink must be consumed at the refreshment station itself in sufficient quantities to ensure adequate energy reserves to reach the next one, with the exception of water, which may also be carried in the runner’s own water bottles and reservoirs.
To use the refreshment station, it is an essential requirement to be wearing your race number.
Art.10 CLOAKROOM SERVICE
The Organising Committee will provide a cloakroom service on Alameda Vieja for the Marathon and Half Marathon, and in the starting area for the Promo, where runners may leave their belongings; however, the Organising Committee accepts no liability for items left there.
Staff from the Organisation’s Cloakroom Service may ask runners to open their bags before depositing them, in order to check their contents. Should a runner refuse to open a bag, the Organisation may refuse to accept that bag.
Art.11 AUTHORISED VEHICLES
The only vehicles permitted to follow the race will be those accredited by the Organising Committee. It is strictly forbidden to follow the riders in any type of motorised vehicle or on-wheeled vehicle (roller skates, bicycles, etc.), and the local police have been expressly instructed to remove them from the circuit. A support vehicle will be stationed at the rear of the race to collect any runners who, for whatever reason, do not wish to or are unable to continue the race. Runners who are unable to keep to the scheduled closing time for the checkpoint must board this vehicle or withdraw from the race, in accordance with the instructions of any member of the organising committee.
Art.12 MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND EMERGENCIES
Throughout the event, there will be several medical and safety teams coordinating with the 112 emergency services via the central management team of the JJP SHERRY MARATHON.
These teams will be distributed among the different refreshment posts and the runner will be able to request their help or assistance if needed.
At certain points, random or general medical checks may be carried out. Refusing to undergo a check or showing disrespect towards the doctor or assistant requesting it will result in the immediate invalidation of your race number.
All runners will submit to the doctor’s judgment whenever requested by the doctor, being the assessment of the medical team the one that prevails over any other, so the doctors may:
- Eliminate from the race (by cancelling the bib) any runner who is considered unfit to continue.
- Order the evacuation of any runner they consider to be in danger.
- Order the hospitalization of any runner when deemed necessary.
Art.13 RETIRED
Withdrawals must be made at the checkpoints. If, as a result of an accident or injury, a runner is unable to move and cannot reach a checkpoint, they must activate the rescue operation by contacting the organisers via the Emergency Mobile Number.
Once at the refreshment post, the runner will communicate his desire to abandon the race to the person in charge of the refreshment post so that he can cancel his bib and identify him as having withdrawn.
It should be noted that only at the refreshment posts, indicated as points with RETURN CONTROL, there will be means of transport to evacuate runners who abandon the race.
Should a runner who has withdrawn choose to return under their own steam, they must still inform the person in charge of the refreshment station of their withdrawal so that they can cancel their race number and mark them as having withdrawn; otherwise, the Organising Committee will assume they are missing and will trigger the rescue alert.
Art.14 MODIFICATION OF THE ROUTE OR SUSPENSION OF THE EVENT
In case of bad weather conditions or force majeure, the Organization reserves the right to suspend, neutralize or modify the time slots and/or the route of the race.
