La edición 2020 del Sherry Maratón se cancela finalmente por la evolución de la crisis sanitaria.
¡Creíamos que sería posible! Queríamos una Sherry Maratón especial para tod@s tras el confinamiento. Sabíamos que no iba a ser como siempre, pero confiábamos en poder conseguirlo. Contábamos con el esfuerzo y la ilusión de tod@s, con vuestras ganas y motivación, el apoyo incesante del Consejo Regulador del Vino y Brandy de Jerez, del Ayuntamiento de Jerez de la Frontera y de nuestros patrocinadores y colaboradores. Manteníamos la ilusión de siempre, esa que ponemos en cada Sherry Maratón y con la que intentamos hacer, cada año, la mejor edición posible.
Pero, por desgracia, hoy anunciamos la noticia que no queríamos dar, el aplazamiento del Sherry Maratón a 2021. La evolución de la crisis sanitaria ocasionada por la COVID-19 durante el verano está golpeando duramente a todos los sectores y los eventos deportivos no son una excepción.
Desde un primer momento, y ante las previsiones que se manejaban, tratamos de reprogramar el Sherry Maratón al 27 de Septiembre. La decisión no fue fácil, pues tenía repercusiones negativas para todos: deportistas, proveedores y organización. Sin embargo, con el apoyo del Consejo Regulador y el Ayto. de Jerez, apostamos por aplazar el evento y lo hicimos plenamente convencidos de poder adaptarnos a una situación inédita a nivel mundial. Para ello hemos trabajado duramente estos meses desarrollando un protocolo con todas las normas y garantías de seguridad sanitarias avalado por la Federación Andaluza de Atletismo.
Pero la evolución actual del Covid y el aumento descontrolado de casos positivos han hecho que la celebración del Sherry Maratón tenga que ser aplazada definitivamente al 2021.
A pesar de ello, nosostros seguimos con nuestro espíritu positivo y es por ello que nos ilusiona volver a emplazar a todos los Sherryrunners el próximo 25 de Abril de 2021, con la celebración, por partida doble, del Sherry Maratón. La primera prioridad de la organización ha sido la de garantizar la seguridad de todas las personas: corredores, voluntarios, personal de organización, público y población local en general. Nuestra esperanza era que la situación general y las condiciones sanitarias serían suficientemente buenas como para celebrar el Sherry Maratón en Septiembre. Lamentablemente, las circunstancias están lejos de ser idóneas para garantizar unas condiciones imprescindibles de seguridad. Es un momento muy duro para tod@s. Tomamos esta decisión desde la responsabilidad y pensando que hacemos lo más razonable en esta difícil situación que vivimos. Nos hubiera gustado volver a disfrutar junto a tod@s de la gran fiesta del Sherry Maratón, pero ahora la prioridad creemos que es otra. La prioridad es la salud y la responsabilidad que tenemos con nuestra gente y con la sociedad. Lamentamos profundamente todas las molestias ocasionadas a todos los sherryrunners que estaban inscritos. Todos ellos recibirán por mail todas las opciones que ofrecemos para la gestión de su inscripción. Queremos agradecer a todos nuestros sherryrunners, instituciones, patrocinadores, proveedores y a todas las personas que forman parte del Sherry Maratón su apoyo incondicional. Esta batalla la ganaremos todos juntos. Os esperamos el 25 de Abril de 2021 con ganas de correr y disfrutar. Salud y fuerza sherryrunners!
THE SHERRY MARATON WILL RETURN ON APRIL 25th, 2021.
We believed it would be possible! We wanted a special Sherry Marathon for everyone after confinement. We knew it was not going to be like always, but we were confident we could achieve it. We had the effort and enthusiasm of everyone, with your desire and motivation, the incessant support of the Sherry and Jerez Brandy route, the Jerez de la Frontera City Council and our sponsors and collaborators. We kept the same illusion as always, the one that we put in each Sherry Marathon and with which we try to make, every year, the best possible edition.
But, unfortunately, today we announced the news that we did not want to give, the postponement of the Sherry Marathon to 2021. The evolution of the health crisis caused by COVID-19 during the summer is hitting all sectors hard and sporting events are not an exception.
From the first moment, and in view of the forecasts that were being handled, we tried to reschedule the Sherry Marathon to September 27. The decision was not easy, as it had negative repercussions for everyone: athletes, suppliers and organization. However, with the support of the Sherry and Jerez Brandy Route, we bet on postponing the event and we did so fully convinced that we could adapt to an unprecedented situation worldwide. For this we have worked hard these months developing a protocol with all the health safety standards and guarantees endorsed by the Andalusian Athletics Federation.
But the current evolution of Covid and the uncontrolled increase in positive cases have meant that the celebration of the Sherry Marathon has to be definitively postponed to 2021.
Despite this, we continue with our positive spirit and that is why we are excited to re-install all the Sherryrunners on April 25, 2021, with the celebration, twice, of the Sherry Marathon.
The first priority of the organization has been to guarantee the safety of all people: runners, volunteers, organization personnel, the public and the local population in general. Our hope was that the general situation and sanitary conditions would be good enough to hold the Sherry Marathon in September. Unfortunately, circumstances are far from ideal to guarantee essential safety conditions.
It is a very hard time for everyone. We make this decision from responsibility and thinking that we do the most reasonable in this difficult situation that we live. We would have liked to enjoy the great party of the Sherry Marathon together with everyone, but now the priority we believe is another. The priority is health and the responsibility we have with our people and with society.
We deeply regret all the inconvenience to all the sherryrunners who were registered. All of them will receive by mail all the options we offer for the management of their registration.
We want to thank all our sherryrunners, institutions, sponsors, suppliers and all the people who are part of the Sherry Marathon for their unconditional support. We will all win this battle together.
We are waiting for you on April 25, 2021 with the desire to run and enjoy.
